Welcome to the Acupuncture Council of Ontario

Our special guest speakers are Emily Cheung, the MOHLTC appointed registrar of the College of Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioners and Acupuncturists of Ontario and Mr. Steven Cheng, senior policy advisor from the MOHLTC. They will be giving us an update on the new acupuncture/TCM regulation and how it affects regulated health professionals such as D.C’s.

For the continuing education portion of the AGM, we will hear from Dr. Carlo Ammendolia, D.C., Ph.D., on his newly published study on acupuncture and the treatment of lower back pain.

The exam is for chiropractors and medical doctors that have taken recognized acupuncture training programs other than the CMCC clinical acupuncture program

As of December 31st, 2003, the ACO will no longer give credit hours for any courses through private run acupuncture programs.

ACO GENERAL NOTICE

As of September 1st, 2006 any member of the Acupuncture Council of Ontario (ACO) who has allowed their membership to lapse greater than 2 years will be required to obtain 12 continuing education hours per 2 year term and will automatically have to write a reinstatement exam. Reinstatement and exam fees plus membership fees for the entire period of lapsed membership must be paid.

This addition was voted on at the ACO Annual General Meeting held on April 2nd, 2006.
